215 ILCS 5/143.20a. (from Ch. 73, par. 755.20a) Sec. 143.20a. Cancellation of Fire and Marine Policies. (1) Policies covering property, except policies described in subsection (b) of Section 143.13, of this Code, issued for the kinds of business enumerated in Class 3 of Section 4 of this Code may be cancelled 10 days following receipt of written notice by the named insureds if the insured property is found to consist of one or more of the following: (a) Buildings to which, following a fire loss, permanent repairs have not commenced within 60 days after satisfactory adjustment of loss, unless such delay is a direct result of a labor dispute or weather conditions. (b) Buildings which have been unoccupied 60 consecutive days, except buildings which have a seasonal occupancy and buildings which are undergoing construction, repair or reconstruction and are properly secured against unauthorized entry. (c) Buildings on which, because of their physical condition, there is an outstanding order to vacate, an outstanding demolition order, or which have been declared unsafe in accordance with applicable law. (d) Buildings on which heat, water, sewer service or public lighting have not been connected for 30 consecutive days or more. (2) All notices of cancellation under this Section shall be sent by certified mail and regular mail to the address of record of the named insureds. (3) All cancellations made pursuant to this Section shall be on a pro rata basis. (Source: P.A. 103-426, eff. 8-4-23.)
